Spaace is a non-custodial NFT marketplace. This means collections are deployed directly on-chain by creators, without prior approval or curation by Spaace.
Because anyone can deploy a smart contract, fraudulent or impersonating collections can exist, just as they do across the entire NFT ecosystem (including other major marketplaces).
How to identify a fraudulent collection
Before buying, always perform basic due diligence. Common red flags include:
No blue verification badge
Not marked as a Prime collection
Very low supply or very few holders
Prices far below the floor price of the original project
Name mimics a well-known collection (e.g. “Mutant”, “BAYC”, etc.) but with small variations
No official links (website, Discord, X/Twitter) or links that look suspicious
Example: A “Mutant” collection without verification, with low supply and heavily discounted prices, is a strong warning sign.
Prime & Verified collections
To help users navigate safely, Spaace highlights:
Prime collections: curated and trusted projects
Verified collections (blue badge): confirmed ownership and legitimacy
If a collection has neither, it should be treated with caution.
Why Spaace cannot block all scams
On-chain, legitimate and fraudulent collections look identical at creation
Millions of collections exist across the ecosystem
It is not technically possible to pre-emptively block new contracts without breaking decentralization
This is not specific to Spaace and applies to all non-custodial marketplaces.
About refunds
Spaace:
Does not hold user funds
Collects only 0.75% marketplace fees
Cannot reverse or refund on-chain transactions
For this reason, transactions involving fraudulent collections cannot be refunded.
XP & rewards clarification
XP may still be granted on non-Prime collections if they meet platform rules (e.g. items listed above the minimum price threshold).
This does not indicate legitimacy or endorsement of a collection.
What to do if you encounter a suspicious collection
Do not interact with the collection
Report it via the Help Center or in-app reporting tools
Compare it with the official collection on trusted marketplaces (e.g. OpenSea)
When unsure, stick to Prime or Verified collections
Key takeaway
Spaace provides tools and signals to help you trade safely, but users remain responsible for due diligence when interacting with on-chain assets.
If something looks too good to be true, it usually is.
